What effective or not effective assessment have you seen be used in physical activity lessons?

The beep test is NOT effective. I watched students take part and most did not come under the category they should be under, which made them more self-conscious and unhappy with the activity. This is not an effective measure of students fitness.
ReplyDeletepeer and self assessment is effective.
ReplyDeleteI have seen a checklist be done, so when you see a child has caught a ball with two hands tick it off and when most the class has mastered this skill you can move on. So really it is a checklist for the success criteria, perhaps broken up further in relation to the activity - e.g. Students will be successful when they can catch the ball while moving. Then the checklist may be catching with two hands while moving, catching with one hand while moving etc.
